On-Going Activities and Projects

Mt. Fern Secret Sisters:  Women in the church become an anonymous “Secret Sister” for another woman in the church by signing up prior to the brunch.  During the year, leave small gifts or favors in the “Secret Sister Mailbox” on the Welcome Table at the church.  Identities of “Secret Sisters” are revealed at a “Secret Sister Brunch” at the end of the year.

Cookbooks:  Spiral bound cookbooks, with home-tested recipes provided by Church members and friends, are available for $5.00 each.  Proceeds supplement the budget.

Potluck Dinner: We begin the fall season with a Potluck Dinner & general meeting.

Fall & Spring Breakfasts:  We celebrate the seasons with a morning breakfast followed by fellowship and a special program.

Christmas Party:  Joined together with the Millbrook UMW, we celebrate the Christmas Season.

Christmas Card Tree:  Each year a Christmas tree is displayed on which members of the church can hang Christmas cards instead of mailing them.  For the savings in postage, people are asked to make a contribution to the UMW.  All of these funds are given to Arab World Ministries in the name of Nancy, a woman from our congregation, and her husband, who are missionaries with Arab World Ministries.

Dessert & Pounding: In February, we get together to auction off interesting new and “nearly new” items for the benefit of missions. We laugh a lot and go home with treasures.

English Tea:  Held during the spring, this authentic English afternoon helps support various mission projects.

Mother-Daughter Banquet:  Every year, on the Friday before Mother’s Day, we gather to celebrate mothers & daughters with a special dinner & program.
